Firebird | Copenhagen, Denmark

Her dream is to create a style, not trends, but style.  She wants her creations to be treasures of luxury that get passed on from generation to generation.  For Regina Tirsgaard, that was the standard that she set from the very beginning, and her graduate collection tells it all.  She uses beautiful, lightweight fabric, and plays with the structure; this makes her creations look bold, playful and captivating at the same time.  When our model and muse, Lauren, put on the garments for the first time, we were all in awe.  The fit was perfect and the way it falls over her body was the definition of elegance.  Would I pass them down to my daughter if they were mine?  Without a second thought!

Englave: Where are you based?
Regina: I am currently based in Copenhagen.

Englave: How would you describe your brand in 3 words?
Regina: Curious, tailored and detailed

Englave: What unique characteristics do you incorporate in your collection?
Regina: I always try and aim for a style that is well-tailored, colourful, has long lasting quality and plays with our understanding of how garments should be. Women should feel attractive in my garments.

Englave: What is your creative process when coming up with new collections?
Regina: I have several processes; it all depends on my take on the inspiration. There is really no right or wrong way of doing it. I like figuring it out as I go along to make sure the process is right for the concept. Something that always works for me is to drape the shapes onto a mannequin; to let the fabric speak for itself.

Englave: What is your biggest struggle and wish as an emerging designer?
Regina: The greatest challenge is to produce locally and in smaller amounts.

Englave: What is next for your brand?
Regina: I want to move to London, source locally and start producing.

Englave: Why London?  Isn’t Copenhagen also a great city to grow as a fashion designer?
Regina: London is a vibrant and versatile city to showcase any collection because there’s a room for every individual styles. It’s inspiring. think having a Danish background could bring something new and interesting to the fashion scene in London. As an independent designer choosing the right location has more to do with your stile.  I feel at home in London and this is where I find my inspiration.  As a new designer, it is hard to grow your business anywhere in the world.  I think designers could benefit learning from each other; to be more united and supportive of one another both in terms of collection development and production.  That way we could improve the way that the fashion industry is run today and make it easier for new designers to create a name for themselves.

Englave: Which designer do you want to collaborate with the most?
Regina: It has been a dream for some time to collaborate with Alexander McQueen. I adore the extreme creativity and his garments are always memorable. Haute couture is a talent.

Englave: Where can we purchase your product?
Regina: I make made to measure garments and will happily receive your request through my website
